Coincidentally,
when the Cyclone was threatened, plans were made to relocate the
coaster to Astroworld in Houston. When the physical relocation
proved to not be feasible, Astroworld hired designer Bill Cobb
to design a Cyclone-clone instead. With it being in Texas and
all, Cobb designed his ride bigger and faster. Before Six Flags
tamed it and put horrible trains on it, I hear the Texas Cyclone
(a mirror image) was a more wicked, more incredible ride than
its predecessor.
But
not as, well, symbolic.
Cobb
would later go on to design another famous Cyclone -- the Riverside
Cyclone.
